Authorized User Terms and Conditions

Authorized teachers

1. Authorized teachers will maintain the security of log-ins.
2. Authorized teachers will change their password from the default password at the earliest opportunity after logging in for the first time.
3. If and when an Authorized teacher realizes that a security breach has occurred, Authorized teachers will ensure that passwords are changed, and any inappropriate material that may have been uploaded is deleted. For avoidance of doubt, inappropriate material includes but is not limited to anything which is: abusive, indecent, obscene, defamatory, racist, offensive, menacing or in breach of confidence, copyright or any other rights or which contains unlawful security devices or computer virus or other similar software or programmes that may damage the operation of another's computer or which contravenes any laws; any text or file which may cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
4. Where a security breach has occurred, Authorized teachers must inform the MAPS coordinator immediately and not later than 1 (one) working day of discovering the security breach. An email should be sent to TAG at the address: support@maps-ict.com detailing as accurately as possible, the time and date of the breach, and what remedial action has been taken (for example, changing a password, where the password has been given away to an unauthorized user).
5. In the event of TAG becoming aware of inappropriate material TAG may, at TAG's sole discretion, delete the inappropriate material.
6. Authorized teachers are responsible for what is shown in the portfolios of students allocated to them in the MAPS system. Specifically Authorized teachers must ensure that parental permission is obtained before pupils upload photographs of themselves in to their "About Me" screen.
7. Authorized teachers will use their best endeavours to ensure that no text is input into MAPS or files to be uploaded into MAPS which is abusive, indecent, obscene, defamatory, racist, offensive, menacing or in breach of confidence, copyright or any other rights or which contains unlawful security devices or computer virus or other similar software or programmes that may damage the operation of another's computer or which contravenes any laws; not to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
8. Authorized teachers cannot sub-let or resell the MAPS service or allow non-authorized users to access the MAPS service. Log-ins are non transferable to unauthorized users.
9. Authorized teachers agree to observe and to promote to the Authorized pupils the UK Government guidelines for best practice on use of the Internet - including but not limited to the guidelines set out in the Government's Superhighway Safety website: http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk 10. Authorized teachers are responsible for keeping copies of all files uploaded into MAPS by Authorized pupils. While TAG provides a high level of backup and service availability, connection to the Internet can fail for reasons beyond TAG's control, in which case it may not be possible for the Authorized teachers or pupils to access MAPS.
11. Authorized teachers will not copy, adapt, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, develop or modify MAPS in whole or in part except as permitted by law."

MAPS Rules

Before you can start using MAPS, you need to read and agree to the following rules:

Rule 1. You should change your password from the default password as soon as you log-in for the first time.
Rule 2. You should never tell anyone else your password.
Rule 3. If you think that someone else has found out your password you should change your password immediately and you should let your teacher know.
Rule 4. You should use MAPS only for keeping your work, and your comments on that work.
Rule 5. You should never type in text or upload a file which is rude or threatening to other people, racist, offensive or obscene.
Rule 6. You should never upload a file which you know contains a virus.
Rule 7. You should never upload a picture of yourself into the "About me" screen of your portfolio without the consent of your parent or guardian and your teacher.
Rule 8. If your teachers, or TAG Learning Ltd (the company that runs MAPS) feel that anything that you have written or uploaded breaks these rules, they can delete it.
Rule 9. You agree to allow your work - including text you have typed and files you have uploaded into MAPS - to be displayed in MAPS, and you agree that your work can stay MAPS for as long as your school or TAG Learning Ltd (the people who run MAPS) want to keep it in MAPS. You give permission for your work to be displayed without your name attached to it or associated with it.
